All types of trail users loosen soil and speed
natural erosion. Mountain bikers who skid accelerate this process. Cyclists who
ride in control don't skid and have minimal impact.

Man-made trails are unnatural creations. When building or maintaining
trails, the goal should be to complement natural processes.

Determine what happens naturally in an area and try to imitate it.
